By invitation of SSNAOE, the students’ delegation of Russian St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University (SMTU) led by Prof. Kirill Rozhdestvensky their vice rector also the vice president of The Science & Technology Society of Shipbuilders of the Russian Federation (NTOS) has paid a visit to Shanghai during Nov 28 to Dec 3. On behalf of SSNAOE, Secretary General Prof. Feng Xuebao welcomed this delegation on Nov 28 Friday evening. Project Director Michael Zhang, as a representative of SSNAOE, guided their visit in the next few days.

From Dec 1 to 3, SMTU’s delegation has visited Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (SWS), Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC). The leaders of the aforementioned three organizations warmly welcomed the SMTU’s delegation and made vivid introduction of the organizations, their histories and achievements via video, exhibition room and power point presentations. The leaders also had interaction with the students. In the Q&A session, the young college students actively asked questions and received detailed answers from the leaders. The students also had the opportunity to visit the plant of the shipyard, design room, towing tank and workshops, which was truly beneficial. They appreciated the chance being able to visit these organizations, receive introductions from the relevant leaders and touch some facilities on the scene.

During the several days of the students’ stay in Shanghai, they also visited the landmarks and scenery places such as Shanghai Bund, Yuyuan Garden and Lujiazui Financial Center, during which they received the personal experience of the culture and life in Shanghai, China. Before the departure, the students firmly shook hands with the representative and once again expressed their appreciation for SSNAOE’s well organizing for their visit.
