The World Maritime Technology Congress was conceived in 2003 as a confederation of 21 professional societies involved in the fields of naval architecture, marine and offshore engineering, as well as other marine science and technology.

About World Maritime Technology Conference

The World Maritime Technology Conference (WMTC) is held once every three years under the auspices of the World Maritime Technology Congress, with organization carried out by a member Society. It is a famous technology event of the maritime industry which attracts the attendees all over the world.
Up to now WMTC has been held for 5 times with the last one (WMTC’15) hosted by Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers at Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A. in 2015. The five are as follows:

WMTC'15, held incorporated with the SNAME Maritime Convention (SMC), exceeded all expectations. Nearly 1,200 attendees came from 32 countries to the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island, USA to experience this premier international maritime industry event. Over 170 exceptional papers are presented on sessions during the three-day event.

The World Maritime Technology Conference is the first time to be held in China. Under the situation that the marine industry has been slow in recovering from the global economic crisis and new shipbuilding contracting is week, the 6th World Maritime Technology Conference (WMTC’18) will be a valuable meeting for the experts from the world maritime industry to debate the professional and technical issues that influence the maritime industry.
Market has been depressed and continued to flounder in recent years, transformation and renovation have become the hot topic of the industry, therefore WMTC’18 sets “Innovation, Intelligence, Transformation, Development” as the theme. The event expects to have 180 papers presented at the meeting, regarding a variety of topics including the frontiers and hot issues over three days.
Shanghai Society of Naval Architects of Marine Engineers (SSNAME) was invited to attend WMTC’12 and became a member of WMTC. Then SSNAME was selected as the host Society of WMTC’18 in 2013. WMTC’18 will be held in Shanghai at Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park Hotel from December 4 to 7.

Authors Instructions
(1) Authors are requested to include with their abstract: a) the subject(s) (per above list) to which their topic applies, and b) their technical society affiliation(s), if any, per the Congress member societies listed below.
(2) Completed abstracts should be submitted to SSNAME via email: ssname@ssname.com.cn,
marked as “WMTC18 paper”, for preliminary review and be peer reviewed by the Session Chair from one of the member societies.
(3) For Student Authors, the abstract should be submitted to SSNAME via email:
